Bioships, could be naturally occuring but someone modifies them?
Or yes, they were built in the ancient past and now are still around, some
gone natural/feral?
I know one "race" I have are silicon, who produce hydrogen and magnetic
fields, yes, the idea came before Avatar the movie, but the idea is that the
rulers of the planet, live on them, like some sort of Gods, but in reality
its just classic rich on the hill, and poor in the plains/valleys..
Just cause we built a semi-conductor and call it a computer, does not mean
it can not also come about by "Natural" means..
Natural, can be found and changed into forms, that we can use for human
purposes? Like we have done with horses and cows, many that if they had to
go back to the natural world, might face issues. Some breeds of dairy cows,
have to be milked or they can die.

Arguably a human brain should be modeled as multiple computers. AFAIK
various brain components can function quite well on their own, it's just
that other missing components tend to mess up the overall functioning of
the body, that the remaining parts are in great danger to get damaged too.
Though again arguably a mainframe, at that techlevel, itself might be
technically a collection of smaller computers.
Do you know Jupiter by Ben Bova? The anatomy of the Jupiter beings there
is not described in detail, but i get the impression, that they have more
then one brain, one as leading brain, and others more concerned with
specific tasks like moving certain bodyparts. (including some that are
reomovable and rejoinable) And in cases of stress it sometimes requires
great efforts of will on part of the leading brain, to keep the lower
brains from doing some instinctive behaviour on their own.
