I had to google thoose, the difference seems to be, that the Jupiter being are collections of more different beings, like they have some fins as propulsion units, but thoose fins can fall off and go into some sort of hibernation mode. Or if their instincts say that and the central intelligence fails too many willrolls do that against the intention of the materbrain.

A bioship built along that line could have a mainframe as master brain, and have a couple of smaller computers for running some spezific programs.

Doing it that way does make sense either if you need more programs, then can be run on the mainfraim additionally to the AI, or as sort of a backup computer, that if the master brain gets offline executes some simple programs, like flee to the next known safe port.
