This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml Onno Meyer, 2011-08-01
Recon Starfighter Mk.V v1.0 (TL12) Copyright 2011 by Onno Meyer The Recon Starfighter Mark V scouts for interstellar battle fleets. It can reach 1,905 c in hyperspace and 8 G sublight acceleration, and it is armed with sixteen torpedo tubes and four point defense lasers. The fighter has a conventional layout with the cockpit and avionics in front, crew quarters and power systems in the center, and engines in the rear. The torpedo rack is mounted on the underside, firing forward. The Recon Starfighter is streamlined for atmospheric combat, but it will be at a severe disadvantage compared to dedicated aerospace fighters. The usual crew for long deployments are a pilot, an astrogator, and an engineer. For a few weeks, it can carry up to six, and the fighter has a little Personnel Lander to deploy surface recon teams. It takes 26 minutes to recharge the power cells for one minimum-energy hyperspace entry, and 0.5 seconds to recharge one x-ray laser pulse. The full load of torpedoes costs $12,423,200. Subassemblies: Body +6, four full-rotation pop Turrets +1. Powertrain: Two 800,000-lb. super reactionless thrusters; 800-ton hyperdrive; two 400,000-lb. contragrav generators; 5-kW NPU; 150,000-kW fusion reactor; three 112,500,000-kWs rechargeable power cells.
