I'm not sure where it may be archived, or whether it has been expanded since it was first discussed, but years back on the TML there was a "discussion" on piracy and Ian Whitchurch posted "The Sunbeard Declaration". This naturally spawned a very long, very active thread, but the bottom line is that I think you're in good company with your thoughts.
