This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml Onno Meyer, 2012-01-23
Survey Scoutship Mk.III v1.0 (TL10) Copyright 2012 by Onno Meyer The Survey Scoutship is deployed when the first wave of interstellar explorers finds something interesting. Her laboratory and the crew are tailored for the mission, not generalists like the first-in team. The ship has a hyperdrive speed of 285 c. With vectored thrust and a sublight acceleration of 1.2 G, she can land on earthlike planets. Her hydraulic landing gear can cope with uneven ground. For zero gravity, the airlock has a flexible docking clamp, and she can tow loads up to 20 tons in hyperspace. The forward section contains the cockpit, four cabins, and the small galley. Often two cabins have individual bunks for the captain and the senior scientist, and the remaining cabins have double bunks for four junior crew. The center section holds the lab, the automed, equipment lockers, a ready room and the airlock. The rear holds a small machine shop, the fusion reactor and the hyperdrive. The life support and the sublight thrusters are mounted in a 4' crawlspace under the main deck. It takes 525 minutes to recharge the power cells for a hyperjump. Subassemblies: Body +7, four retractable Skids +3. Powertrain: 240,000-lb. vectored super reactionless thruster; 120-ton hyperdrive; 100-kW RTG; 125,000-kW fusion reactor; 43,200,000-kWs rechargeable power cell. Occ: 2 bridge RCS, 4 cabins. Empty weight is 192,000 lbs. The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third printing, December '09 errata], VXi and VXii (including the armor volume rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite. Next Week: A really big and advanced robot starship. _______________________________________________ GurpsNet-L mailing list <[email protected]> http://mail.sjgames.com/mailman/listinfo/gurpsnet-l
