This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until
I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these
days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml

Spacebase v1.0 (TL10)
  Copyright 2012 by Onno Meyer

Trading post, communications node, repair facility -- the Spacebase is
all that and more. She was constructed in orbit around a promising world
on the frontier. A century later, she might become a historical monument
in a vibrant industrialized system, a dusty and forgotten place bypassed
by the starlanes, or something in between.
The station consists of the habitat ring and the central hub. She has
grav generators, so there is no need for spin, but a ring configuration
provides a dozen convenient docking ports. One more airlock, designated
zero rather than thirteen, leads directly to the engineering section in
the hub.
When visitors think of the Spacebase, they think of the main corridor
of the habitat ring. The corridor leads completely around the ring, and
it connects the docking ports, the shuttle hangars, cargo bays, hostels
for visiting spacers, the commercial sections, and the large market. It
is claimed that anything can be bought and sold on The Main, from alien
herbal remedies to freshly pressed fruit juice, from custom-made engine
parts to clean ship's papers -- and if it isn't available, there will a
broker who can find it for a price.
The central hub has ten decks, and it houses the command center, the
fusion reactors, the maintenance workshop, and cabins for the technical
crew and a few permanent residents who prefer a sedate living place.
When visitors come to the hub, it is usually to handle paperwork with
the dockmaster, or to get intoxicated crewmembers out of the security
office.
