This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until
I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these
days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml

Commuter Jet v1.0 (TL7 7/8th)
  Copyright 2012 by Onno Meyer

The Commuter Jet is a compact little plane with two seats in the open
cockpit. The pilot has the forward seat and one passenger gets the rear
seat. The Jet has sharp delta wings and small canards for improved lift
at low speeds. It needs less than 70 yards for takeoff (and rather more
for landing -- brakes are for nerds).
At routine speed, the turbofan burns 60 gallons per hour. A full load
of jet fuel is $180.

Subassemblies: Body +2, three retractable Wheels -1, two STOL Wings +0.
Powertrain: 2,000-lb. afterburning turbofan; 400-kWs lead-acid battery.

Design Notes
Body is 80 cf, with radical streamlining. Wheels are 4 cf, retract
into body. Wings are 4 cf each. Structure is extra-light, very
expensive. Armor is expensive composite. Mechanical controls. 3.6 cf of
empty space. Empty weight is 1,200 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third
printing, December '09 errata] and VXii (including the armor volume
rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: A Traveller air/raft.
