I know many WW2 cargo planes saw alot of use.

DC3/4/6 and C119 for sure. We still see them here in Alaska, well the DCs
that is.. The forest service uses them as well as fuel carriers to the
villages.. Turboprop is still cheaper than jets..

Jets are good if you want to get there NOW, but not if you have time and a
cargo..

I could see a cargo ship from one war, still being used in some parts of
the universe some 100-500 years laters, as long as you have parts and
ways/means to fix them, and they are still good to be  used (turbo prop for
example).

Cargo, I think would be much it is now, small ships for local traffic,
small cargos and speciality ones, and larger ones for long distance and
bulk cargo..

The small being much like the Firefly or like craft, while the larger might
be more like the ship from .... argh, forget the name,.. the front was a
solid ship, but it connected to the rear and power units, with a latix or
like where connex and like units are connected as needed..
