Hello Johannes, what I'm thinking of are ruling families fighting for power. No major differences in the worldview or the culture, but a kind of hereditary political factions. That has been going on since at least the Civil War in the 600s, if not since the settlement of the Spinward Marches. Do you know the game Junta? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junta_(game) All factions are interchangeable, and you always have the same KIND of people on top. > There the oasis settlements propably are run by large land owners, that > rely on the central goverment to keep their own peasants down, which > in turn makes them dependent on the goverment. It seems that water purification and redistribution is a big industry, and a means for control. > Sides will also be more static , there will be less chance of a player to > completly change sides as political maneuver. > > On one side you will have the oligarchs, the army and police, and any body > guards/securities/death squads, various oligarchy factions might keep, for > missions, that they don't want to be done by the army. On one side you have the oligarchy, and on the other side you have the oligarchy as well. Revolutionaries don't enter the picture, so far.
