This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml Onno Meyer, 2013-08-26
Deep Space Exploration Craft v1.0 (TL9) Copyright 2013 by Onno Meyer This spacecraft was designed for a setting where interplanetary travel is starting to become routine. The Deep Space Exploration Craft could be used by government research agencies like NASA or ESA or by corporations looking for profit in the outer system. Whatever the mission, a small group of spacers will be alone in the dark, left to their own devices. The craft consists of the main hull and two spin capsules for the crew quarters. The main hull holds the payload section, engine, reactor, life support, and avionics. The spin capsules contain cabins for up to eight people, cryosleep capsules for six, flight control and science stations, and the reaction mass tanks (placed there for extra rad shielding). The main cargo hold is 11' wide and 32' long, with a nominal capacity of 30 tons. The Exploration Craft could carry manned landers for a trip to some Jovian moon, small unmanned probes for asteroid prospecting, or perhaps a disassembled mass driver engine to bring an asteroid into the inner system. The fusion rocket uses 400 gallons of reaction mass per hour. Subassemblies: Body +6, two Pods +5. Powertrain: 20,000-lb. vectored fusion rocket; 1,000-kW fusion reactor; 360,000-kWs advanced batteries. Fuel: 8,800 gallons water. Occ: 4 bridge NCS, 4 cabins. Cargo: 3,180 cf.
