OK, I've got GVB 1.0 in front of me. The disk contains a single executable
with the setup, which means there can't really be missing files. The setup
should complain. I notice that it is for Windows 95 to XP. I'm installing
on an elderly notebook with XP. Lots of little things which could go wrong
under newer operating systems, but I GUESS if it works at all it all works.

ISTR that people wrote and shared more templates, but I didn't follow that.

Starting GVB. I see the file tab and go to new -> templates. I get a radio
group Vehicles 2nd/Traveller 2nd/Traveller GF/Space 3rd/WWII. I load the
TL8 battlesuit from VE2nd.

I switch to the Vehicle tab. The Vehicle Designer Tree contains a (closed)
folder with the TL8 battlesuit. It contains Legs, Body, and Frame. The Body
contains the Turret and Arms -- a quirk of GVB.

I open the Miscellaneous folder in the Repository Tree and and open Heavy
Equipment. I drag a TL5 winch into the Body in the Vehicle Tree and a box
opens to set TL and strength. I add a TL8, ST 12 winch which appears in
the vehicle window.

I open the Right Arm and Weapon and Cell and double-click the disruptor.
I give it the compact option and close range. Seems to work.

Open Vehicles or New Vehicle from Template?

This seems to be an error in the tutorial. The laser sight is an option
for handheld weapons in the weapons design. (In a vehicle mount, you'd
want a real laser rangefinder and not just a red dot.)

Did you check the ground profile in the Performance Features of the
Vehicle Properties? GVD doesn't second-guess that -- should a sealed
mars rover with all-wheel drive get the water performance listed!?
