From what we know of what a Jump/FTL drive works and is, can you use your
STL drive to get there faster with it, or just faser to the jump point? Like
what you can do with a fast and slow drives on a destroyer or like?

The ships in most space settings have both STL and FTL drives. Many small
boats might only have STL drives (relying on a mothership for long-range
travel).
