This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until
I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these
days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml

Hyperdrive Trainer Mk.VIII v1.0 (TL15)
  Copyright 2014 by Onno Meyer

Even with the best simulations, there comes a time for pilot trainees
to get into a real starship. Experienced pilots need refresher training
to maintain their proficiency. Last but not least, many old Hyperdrive
Trainers end their career as station hacks on some starport.
The Mk.VIII has a wedge-shaped hull with small aerodynamic stabilizer
fins. The cockpit has two seats next to each other, with large gullwing
doors for easy access. There is a small luggage compartment behind the
seats.
It takes 150 minutes to recharge the power cell at full thrust, or 75
minutes if coasting.

Subassemblies: Body +3.
Powertrain: Three 30,000-lb. mega reactionless thrusters; 120-ton
hyperdrive; two 20,000-lb. contragrav generators; two 5,000-kW total
conversion reactors; 43,740,000-kWs rechargeable power cell.
Occ: 2 RCS. Cargo: 10 cf.

Armor F RL B T U
Body: 4/100* 4/100* 4/100* 4/100* 4/100*
* Plus DR 2,000 force screen.

Equipment:
Body: Two medium-range laser communicators; two medium-range neutrino
communicators; two very-long-range gravity ripple communicators; two
100-mile AESAs; two 100-lightsecond FTL radars; two 100-mile
thermographs; 100-mile multiscanner; two x200 astronomical LLTVs;
15-lightsecond FTL scan detector; 15-lightsecond hyperspace emergence
detector; flight recorder; two sets of precision navigation instruments;
two transponders; two inertial navigation systems; two terrain-following
radars; two C10 hardened minicomputers; two terminals; two neural
induction fields; compact fire suppression system; two forcelocks; FSR
10 simple shaped force screen generator (DR 2,000); two 3-man total life
systems; two ejection seats; two gravity webs. External: Radiation
shielding.

Statistics
Size: 12'x9'x6' Payload: 600 lbs. Lwt.: 6,000 lbs.
Volume: 300 cf Maint.: 16 hours Price: $1,645,050

HT: 15. HPs: 900 Body.

sAccel: 15 G sMR: 15 FTL Speed: 8 parsec per day

Design Notes
Body is 300 cf, with underbelly skids, lifting body, and very good
streamlining. Structure is heavy, expensive. Armor is expensive metal.
Sealed. Computerized controls with duplicate maneuver controls. 11.525
cf of empty space. Empty weight is 5,400 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third
printing, July 2010 errata], VXi, and VXii (including the armor volume
rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: The last variant.
