Garal N.Th. Skyrover-class Airship v1.0 (GURPS Traveller TL6) Copyright 2015 by Onno Meyer The Skyrover is a light utility transport for frontier worlds, easy to maintain and affordable enough. She can carry seven passengers and their gear over several hundred miles of primeval forests or trackless wastes. The blimp has a 200' gasbag with a small car and two engine pods. The pilot and navigator sit in front. Next comes the cabin with seats and a floor hatch and a cargo winch. The rigger/mechanic in the rear monitors the engines and the load balancing. The Skyrover is good for flights of a few hours, perhaps a day -- there is no galley or toilet. The engines burn 36 gallons of aviation gas per hour. A full load of fuel is $360. Subassemblies: Body +4, two Pods +1, Gasbag +9. Powertrain: Two 360-kW aerial propellers; 296,000 cf hydrogen lifting gas; two 360-kW HP gas engines; 240-kWs lead-acid battery. HPs: 225 Body, 19 each Pod, 300 Gasbag aSpeed: 40 aAccel: 2 aDecel: 0.5 aMR: 0.125 aSR: 4 Stall Speed 0. Design Notes Cheaply made. Body is 952 cf, with good streamlining. Pods are 24 cf each. Gasbag is 296,000 cf. Structure is extra-light, expensive. Body and Pod armor is expensive metal, Gasbag armor is non-rigid. Ultralight tanks. Mechanical controls. 155.65 cf of empty space in the Body and 1.9125 cf in each Pod. Empty weight is 9,600 lbs. The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third printing, July 2010 errata], and VXii (including the armor volume rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite. The Traveller rules affect the background and design choices, but not the technology of this vehicle.
