This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml Onno Meyer, 2015-10-26
Delgado Ant-class Switcher Engine and Flatcar v1.0 (GURPS Traveller TL8) Copyright 2015 by Onno Meyer Delgado uses fission power on some worlds with marginal ecosystems and tainted atmospheres. The weight of the reactor increases the traction of the engine, and the nuclear waste can be dumped on some barren moon. The Ant is employed in switching yards and industrial sites, towing a few cars at a time. Switcher Engine The Ant has six driving wheels and electric transmission. The reactor is mounted in the center, with running boards on both sides and a cab in the rear. The engineer has mirrored control consoles and good visibility for forward and rear operations. There is another seat in the cab for a conductor, but this is rarely used. Subassemblies: Body +5, six Railway Wheels +3. Powertrain: 960-kW rugged all-wheel drivetrain; 1,000-kW rugged fission reactor; 18,000-kWs advanced battery. Occ: 2 bridge CCS. Cargo: 20 cf. Heavy Duty Flatcar This flatcar can transport 200 tons or more, from starship reactors to damaged grav vehicles. The load is distributed by span bolsters onto two bogies at each end, with a depressed center to handle high loads. The stakes can be removed if necessary. Body U and Wheel armor are cheap metal. Empty weight is 240,000 lbs. Both vehicles uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third printing, July 2010 errata], VXi, and VXii (including the armor volume rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite. The Traveller rules affect the background and design choices, but not the technology of the vehicles. Next Week: A train job waiting to happen. _______________________________________________ GurpsNet-L mailing list <[email protected]> http://mail.sjgames.com/mailman/listinfo/gurpsnet-l
