Thanks, Neal, hopefully they have marked this down for fixing in the not too
distant
future. Although as someone else on the list pointed out, it could stand some
improvement,
I for one like the flexibility of being able to use the equalizer.

Hi Evan, you are correct. My findings are that the equalizer does not work in
M4A
files. Also, it does not appear to work in wav files. I have passed this on to
GW Micro.

Subject: [GW-Booksense] My Equalizer Does Not Work for AAC and WMA Files

I sent this around ten hours ago and it came back to me from the list, but I
haven't
seen a response either positive or negative, so I'm sending it again in the
hopes
that, if noone else saw it, they might this time.
I really like this thing a lot, but I've discovered a problem with my unit, and
I'd
be interested if anyone else has noticed it or would be willing to do some
testing
to confirm that it is a bug, or disconfirm it, which would mean that something
is
flaky with my particular unit.
I've got the Book Sense standard model, and I've discovered that my equalizer is
not working with files I've ripped in aac with my Winamp that have the m4a file
extension.
I've checked around a dozen files so far and when I hit the 7 key while
listening
to them, there is no change. I can definitely hear changes when I go from one
setting
to another when playing mp3 files, so it's not my hearing. Also, while I don't
have
very many wma files, the two I've listened to so far do not change equalizer
settings
either when I hit the 7 key while playing them.
Has anyone else noticed this, or would anyone be willing to do some testing of
these
formats to see if it's just something goofy with my standard model unit or a
bug?
I would have thought that someone else would have mentioned this by now if it
was
a general problem, but I don't know how many people use the equalizer much. I do
use it, so I hope this can be fixed..
Of course, it also may be true that this was covered before I joined the list
about
three weeks ago. If that is the case, apologies to all.
Thanks a lot.
Evan
