I havent tried a flash drive with my booksense yet, but I do know that the booksense is only designed to recognize its predefined folders: audio books, music, daisy, and so on. I've noticed that these folders aren't created on a new SD card until I insert it into the booksense for the first time and press and hold the 0 key to switch to the SD card. Then the booksense creates the default folders that it needs and I can hook it up to my computer and transfer files to the SD card. So I have two ideas regarding the USB flash drive: 1. plug it in to the booksense and press and hold the 0 key and see if it cycles to the USB flash drive and shows the default booksense folders. 2. Or plug your USB flash drive into your computer and manually create the folders, use your booksense flash disk as a model to know which folders to create.

Another possibility is that the booksense needs a reset. The first time I switched SD cards, my booksense wouldn't recognize the new card, nor would it recognize the one I normally use until I reset the unit by removing and reinserting the battery. Since then (almost two weeks ago) it has had no problems recognizing SD cards when I switch them out nor has it needed another reset.
Hope this helps.

hi,
I am unable to figure out how to get a booksense standard to recognize a usb flashdrive. It says in the manual that it will automatically recognize it, but it will not recognize it. What am I doing wrong?
