What you don't seem to understand yet is that this is not a Jaws or
Window-Eyes problem. The Booksense uses a speech program called
Neospeech, which is the same one available with the Kurzweil OCR
program. For some reason, the version used for the Book Sense has
pronunciation problems that the version for Kurzweil doesn't
have. The advantage with Neospeech is the voice quality. It is my
understanding that the creators of this program used actual phonemes
of two human voices to design the speech. The only thing GW Micro
could have done would have been to delay introduction of the
Booksense, and see if they could get the manufacturer (HIMS) to
completely fix it before it was released. For something like this, I
wonder if a complete fix is even possible. However, there's no
reason I can think of for the pronunciation with Booksense to be at
least as good as that for the Kurzweil program.
