Dianne that is an interesting post. It reminded me of the discovery made
by my sister in-law. She has been studying to obtain her masters degree.
She is doing this on-line.

My sister in-law uses a Mac. She was mucking about with her computer
when she stumbled across Text Outloud. Because of the quality of the
synthesizer she is finding working on her degree much easier now that
she has the synthesized speech going along with her materials when she
is reading or preparing assignments. This has reduced the amount of
distress she was experiencing when doing her homework a great deal.

My sister in-law is neither blind nor does she have a vision impairment.
Well not that she admits to any way.

GW Micro and HIM just might be ahead of the curve. With more eText
readers out there it will be a matter of time before players like the
Kindle, the device being used by Barnes and Noble, Sony, etc. will have
text to speech capabilities for the books and menus.
