As Raul points out, these numbers don't necessarily refer to percentages. Also, I wonder if some of these batteries that just report a 9 with a full charge just need to be "conditioned". I know someone else posted this information, but from http://reviews.ebay.com/Rechargeable-Battery-Care-and-Maintenance-Guide_W0QQ ugidZ10000000001229809, it gives the following tip:
Here's a Li-Ion battery maintenance tip; Li-Ion batteries should be conditioned about once a month. Most Li-Ion batteries have a fuel gauge on the battery (i.e. the LEDs on one side of the battery with a test button) and the electronic device (usually a laptop computer) also has monitoring software to manage the battery power. The accuracy of a Li-Ion battery's self-monitoring circuitry degrades after about a month of use. If you notice that your battery's fuel gauge or your device's operating time estimate is way off, then you probably need to condition your battery. To calibrate (or condition) your Li-Ion battery, fully charge your batteries (let them charge overnight even if they appear to have a full charge) then operate your device until it shuts down. Recharge your batteries and you should notice an improvement in the accuracy of the operating time prediction. -- Christopher [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: Paul Henrichsen [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, June 27, 2010 9:12 PM To: 'Raul A. That would make logical sense. If you could only get to five percent for some reason, you'd only get half the battery life. -----Original Message----- From: Raul A. Hello, these are valid concerns, however if you are getting around 10 to 12 hours from a full charge and are not using Bluetooth, does it really matter all that much if the battery status shows 10? What if the 10 status means 100 percent and by using it for a few seconds, it is now 99.998 percent, then it truly wouldn't be 10. This is just an example since the numbers don't necessarily corispond to percentages by values of 10 according to HIMS. Many thanks. -- Raul A.
