Though this topic is probably o/t for this list, i do have an iPhone, and
too thought the same before I tried it too. So, before you say something is
not accessible, consider the probably 200 or so totally blind individuals
who are successfully using the iPhone, the iPod touch etc. Does it take
some getting used to, oh yeah! But I can successfully navigate to anywhere
using a GPS ap, see what's on TV, I can successfully send text messages,
surfe the internet, listen to music/read books, get up-to-date news
information, chat with friends via IM, play games, and not to mention make
and receive calls.
So please, before you say something doesn't work, or is not accessible, try
it out first?

You said "The touch screen just doesn't make sense to me, and even with
speech, I don't consider it to be accessible."
Do you have a screen reader on your computer? If you do, then the
above comment is at oods with it.

I completely agree with you about touch screens. I've seen a friend's
iphone, and although he swears by the thing, I just didn't like it at all.
The touch screen just doesn't make sense to me, and even with speech, I
don't consider it to be accessible. Also, I don't like the speech used by
the apple products. If I could tolerate that speech, I'd still be using
the victor reader stream I used to have. I don't have a dedicated note
taking device because I can't afford anything like that, but my desktop
computer meets all my needs quite nicely, and I'm very happy with my
htcs743 cell phone. It can serve as a notetaker in an emergency. I love my
booksense, though, and hope that I'll be able to enjoy using it for many
years to come.

Many people get their notetakers through Rehab. Others get loans or
grants.
The Ipods might be fine for some who can't afford notetakers, but Ipods
don't meet my needs and I don't think I would like touch screens, even if
they are "accessible." Besides, Ipods have too many features I wouldn't
even
use! I don't know if a person has to have AT&T to use the Ipod, although I
know it's true for the Ipad and Iphone. Well, I'm happy with Verizon
Wireless and I won't switch to AT&T for any reason! I'll use my BSP as
long
as I can.
