These engines are from K1000 and shouldn't cause you a problem. We will have the sluggishness issues with ECI addressed in beta 2.

I probably took the long way round here but let me tell you what I did. I
uninstalled Window-Eyes beta 1 and deleted the Wineyes folder. I then
installed version 6.0 from my CD. I checked the synthesizer select dialog
and found Speech Works Eloquence voices among the 81 items. I have K 1000 on
my system, by the way. I uninstalled all the Eloquence voices with the
advanced options on the Window-Eyes CD. I restarted the computer and still
saw the Speech Works voices in the synth select dialog. I put the CD back in
and installed the Eloquence voices. ETI Eloquence 5.0 US English and common
module were then visible in add/remove programs in control panel. I then
uninstalled the Eloquence voices with the CD. They were no longer in the
add/remove programs list, but the same sapi choices were still in the
Window-Eyes synth select dialog. At that point I installed the beta and
chose Eloquence. I still occasionally get the drawn out speech almost as if
someone was scrubbing a file with an audio program; very long and drawn out
sounds. A quick press of the control key stops this. Haven't been using the
beta for long now but we'll install some scripts and see if things change.
Were the options I was seeing in the Window-Eyes control panel related to
the Eloquence voices associated with K 1000? Just trying to sort it all out.
Thanks.

Will that work even if I'm using beta 1 of v7?

You can use the 6.1 CD and go to advance and there is an option to uninstall
all Eloquences voices.

I see the Eloquence voices in the Window-Eyes control panel under Sapi, but
I absolutely do not find them in add/remove programs. I looked at all 135
items line by line. What next? Thanks.

Jamie,

Are you sure you you had the SAPI Eloquence installed. It is true that it
shipped with pre-7.0 versions of Window-Eyes but it would only get installed
if you told it to. With the eci Eloquence in 7.0, you always get it even if
you didn't say so. If you have the SAPI 5.0 version installed, it should be
in the add/remove programs listing. Do you see the Eloquence engines in the
select synth dialog under SAPI? Again, if they aren't there, not in the
add/remove then you just don't have them installed.

Regards,
Doug

I installed the beta of Window-Eyes 7 over 6.1 but did not remove the
Eloquence that originally came with Window-Eyes. I don't find it in
add/remove programs. Is it buried somewhere else? How do I ensure that it is
gone? Thanks.

Angelo,

The new eci Eloquence 6.1 that Window-Eyes 7.0 beta 1 ships is NOT
compatible with the 5.0 SAPI Eloquence that Window-Eyes pre 7.0 shipped. If
you enumerate over the SAPI engines and then go to the eci Eloquence engine
then you will not see any engines. It is also possible when yous tart
combining them both that your system will become unstable. So it is very
important to remove the 5.0 SAPI Eloquence if you plan on using the eci
Eloquence.

Doug
