Hello Joe,

Unfortunately, in companies and government agencies, there may be some very
good reasons for having only one screen reader and screen magnification
vendor as things currently stand. Imagine the need to configure and script
specific, customized employer applications for 2 or 3 different solutions?
All the same, I do hope GW Micro will be able to make some serious inroads
into companies and government agencies now that scripting is available and,
IMHO, far superior to anything offered by FS.

Ray,

You are absolutely right. In the rehab world, most clients can choose their
adaptive software and hardware. Unfortunately, not all agencies tell their
clients or have influence over their choices. CLB is one of the exceptions
in that they do an awsome job demonstrating most, if not all, options on the
market.

In other government entities such as IRS or SSA, the GSA(General Services
Administration) has a set list of vendors that may provide adaptive stuff to
employeees. To the best of my knowledge, FS has soul source for screen
enlargement and speech software.

I have worked as an I.T. consultant for a lot of companies. I have found
that quite a few have soul sourced FS and are extremely reluctant to
consider other options.

I am sure there other market segments that I havn't mentioned.

One more point and I will leave it alone. Jaws does some things very well
and so does Window-Eyes. I know many who have chosen to have both
available. I like Window-Eyes for many reasons. Mostly having to do with
the nature of my work.

Warm Regards. Joe Lanier

Hi Sunshine:

Interesting points here. You mentioned how most rehab agencies do not give
clients a choice in screen reader. Just so everyone is aware, the
Rehabilitation Act as Amended provides that consumers should have choices in
their rehabilitation programming. I would think that choice would apply to
the screen reading technology the consumer is provided.

Thanks,
