Hi, listers!

Since we, the last week or so, have been discussing quite frequently
alternatives to MS OFFICE: I have been looking shortly at the cheaper
alternative from MicroSoft, WORKS (the version I have here, is 9, from 2007).
Even that one, will need some kind of set file, I think, to have it up running.
Just wondered: Is there anyone else, who has been sniffing at MSWorks? And who
would happen to have a start out for a set file, or even a complete one? Or,
any scripters?

Yep, I agree, MicroSoft has got way too much of our money already. But maybe,
if nothing else works, their cheap version (MSWorks) will be at least far more
swallowable for most of us, who has to pay the stuff off from our own pocket.
On EBay, you easily pick up version 8 or 9, for way under US$50. Mine was like
$12, plus shipping. Quite a difference from the Office versions. You still can
open/save Office documents. It might not have all the advanced, fancy stuff,
but who of us care about tons of graphical, non-usable, stuff anyway. Wel, that
is for the home user, of course. I see the necessarity for those in work, for
having optimal compatibility with their colleagues. But for the general home
user, I think an easier, cheaper alternative is to be prefered. If anyone has
to, or simply wants to, go ahead with the full Office package. I have it on one
computer, but can't afford to put it on my new one. Guess, that is the same
with quite a few of us... :)

It specially seems to be the problem in the spreadsheet. This just like in
Corel Office, and EasyOffice. The word processors seem to have less challenges
in accessibility.

Let me know, if any of you have got anywhere with the MSWORKS package.

Thanks alot!
