Hey Steve, da jazz man himself, thank you for this one. :) I really do appreciate it a lot, forgot about that variable, as I do the obvious under my schnozz. :)

Curtis,

You can also enter the run dialog from the Start Menu, type "%appdata%" and press Enter to open the application data folder.

Best regards,
Steve

Hi,

Go to the desktop. Just above computer should be an icon with the name of the administrator account on the machine. In my case it's owner, but hers may be something else depending on what name was set up when configuring the machine.

Anyway, click on that to get to the list of folders. The first one should be appdata. If it's not there, you may need to bring up the tools menu, folder options, and under view turn on show hidden files and folders. I can't remember but think you need to do this.

Next open appdata and next open roaming. Finally look for the entry gwmicro. Go down through the sub folders through window-eyes, users, default, and eventually you'll get to a list of files. The .ini file should be in there somewhere.

It's a different file structure from xp for sure, and that's one reason why many older programs have trouble working under vista since they're not aware of the new file structure.

Hope this helps,

Don

Hi all. I've a good friend who almost ran into this situation, and needed, potentially, to go to her docs and settings directory, application settings, and to gw-micro etc. to delete the virtualview.ini file since the update required it. Now, in Vista, how does one find that file? Her Del has what they call "OS c:\" under computer, but there is just all users (OS something like that) under documents and settings. Why is it all seem to be invisible?
