Hi all
I use eSpeak as my default synthesiser with Window-Eyes and it works
very well.
ESpeak can also work with the Mbrola voices which provide an extremely
natural sounding speech. I use the UK English Mbrola voice with eSpeak
and that really is the most natural sounding synthesised speech that
I've heard and it's very responsive. It's
all free. There is one small issue with the Mbrola voices, though. They
produce an authorisation box which has to be Ok'd before speech starts
up every time on boot-up and there is no way of getting rid of this.
I've worked around the problem by writing a macro with AutoHotkey that
waits for the Mbrola dialog box to pop up
and then issues an enter key. This works every time. I would imagine
that a Window-Eyes script could also be written to achieve the same - a
project for my holidays.
The author of eSpeak is continuously updating the program and I report
mispronounced words to him and then he fixes them.
I use the VoiceRotor script to switch among some of the eSpeak
languages. This really is magic.
Regards
Christo

If you read kb1084 at www.gwmicro.com/kb1084 you will see that we listed
this in the article. Basically any sapi4 or sapi5 synthesizer will work.
Many thanks.

From the above site I downloaded eSpeak a free speech synthesizer
version 1.3.9 and installed it. In the Window Eyes 6.1 Synthesizer
menu under SAPI I found eSpeak voices.
Has anyone used this? A good thing about it is that there are a lot of
languages.
As the author is from UK the British English is the default voice but
there's US English voice also.
Hope this may be useful to someone on the list.
Regards
Jitendra
