Hi, That can help, you're quite right. If you have your reading pane turned on, it can be positioned off to the side, and taking up valuable screen real-estate; then, the subject line has to be shortened to accomodate it.
If you don't have a reading pane turned on however, or you've got it set for the top or bottom, then it won't make any difference.
