if 6.1 of WE didn't have any problems, then why is the 7.0 series
acting strange?

Actually this is not a window-eyes problem. It is a focus issue in IE.
Basically both mmmmmmmmmmmethods return focus to where it should be
the web page area.

Me again. I just did it. I did alt-tab to maximize the screen. I
looked like browse mode was off. I did control-shift A. It said
browse mode off. I did it again and it said that browse mode was not

To maximize IE7 alt tab to the program window.
If you don't get browse mode switching on automatically press shift
tab to go backwards through the various controls in ie7 main
application window.
The last control before the browse window is the address field where
you'll hear a web address starting with http:// Press
shift tab once
more to reach the browse window where your web page is displayed.
Once you're there try switching on browse mode manually, that is, if
window eyes doesn't do it for you automatically.
The default window eyes hotkey for turning on browse mode is alt
control
a.
