I wouldn't necessarily recommend this approach for others, but when I happen upon a site or program that is difficult to deal with, I leave it alone and go elsewhere. Life is just too short to spend time and energy fretting over why this site or that program can't be read or manipulated with a screen reader.

Just my approach<smile>.

Hi,

What I've noticed is that Window-Eyes Browse Mode works properly on most
sites, but I've had problems activating browse mode and having it stay
active on cnnfn.com. If I go there and activate the link for Getting a
Quote by pressing enter and then start typing, browse mode toggles on. The
only work-around I found is to press Ctrl-Shift A once on the edit field.

Tried that too, but sadly in the corner of the vista world that I "take
over," no luck aorund this camp.
Still does its usual edit thing while you're driving the fox, and when ya
ride along in the "explorer," still the same browse mode issues.
I know they're fixing these problems in their garage over there.

Hmm.
if 6.1 of WE didn't have any problems, then why is the 7.0 series
acting strange?
That's the only thing i don't get.

Gw micro are not the people that need to fix this issue. This is a

been reported.
It is really annoying in vista when copying a file.
That and UAC witch I have gotten used to are my only complaint
about vista.

Hmm. Interesting. Maybe they could do something in focus in the
verbosity settings that might help with is. I don't know. Just a
thought.

Actually this is not a window-eyes problem. It is a focus issue in IE.

Basically both mmmmmmmmmmmethods return focus to where it should be
the web page area.

Me again. I just did it. I did alt-tab to maximize the screen. I
looked like browse mode was off. I did control-shift A. It said
browse mode off. I did it again and it said that browse mode was not
available.

Hi. I should have clarified. It maximizes but still gives me those
things. I also know control-shift-A. Thanks though. If I remember,
it still does strange even if I do that. Any other ideas.

Actually that command is
Shift-control-a.
The actual entry for it found in the default.txt file reads as follows.
MSAA_Application_Mode_Toggle = Control-Shift-a I hope this
information is useful.
Also, let me apologize in advance if I sound condescending or
patronizing.
I do not intend to do either.

To maximize IE7 alt tab to the program window.
If you don't get browse mode switching on automatically press shift
tab to go backwards through the various controls in ie7 main
application window.
The last control before the browse window is the address field where
you'll hear a web address starting with http:// Press
shift tab once
more to reach the browse window where your web page is displayed.

Once you're there try switching on browse mode manually, that is, if
window eyes doesn't do it for you automatically.
The default window eyes hotkey for turning on browse mode is alt
control
a.
Let me know how it goes.

tab through and get things like: refresh 5, stop, split button,
