If you maximize the screen whilst you are talking to someone that will help. Also make sure you turn off the tool bars which appear above the message box you enter your text. Use shift and shift tab to navigate to reading the message from the other person. Use tab to go back to the message box to type your message. Use the down arrow if you want to read message from the other person. I think you mean that you want to hear if someone logs into umm messenger.
