Hi Eric,
I appreciate the below, maybe we could work on those things and find
solutions.
Maybe scripting will help with this as well.
Have you found any areas that WE works better than jaws?
I would be interested to hear.
Thanks
Sam

Subject: Areas where WE is lacking compared to Jaws
Hi,
I've used Jaws for many, many years, but several months ago I decided
to make the switch to WE. However, there are several areas where I've
found Jaws performs better than WE.
1. On the web with Jaws you can select headings by level by just
pressing the level number.
2. WE performs rather poorly with AIM. I'm not sure if it's because
I'm using an older version of AIM (version 5.something), but I have to
constantly press tab and shift tab whenever I get a new message.
Reading by characters doesn't work very well either. Jaws will also
tell me whenever a buddy signs on, while WE does not.
3. Jaws seems to work at least half decently with Nokia PC Suite,
while WE does not seem able to read it at all.
4. Jaws seems to perform better with forms. For example, when
tabbing through form fields while editing them in forms mode, Jaws
usually says the name of the field without me having to go out of
forms mode. With We, I usually have to turn brows mode back on. This
has sometimes made me switch back to Jaws when using long forms. WE
also doesn't seem to work well with list boxes that allow for multiple
selection. With Jaws I can just hold the control key and press space
to select items, but this doesn't seem to work with WE. Should I be
doing something differently?
5. Sometimes WE will randomly switch back to brows mode while editing
form fields. This occurs most often while writing in the "To" field
in gmail. I will start writing only to suddenly find myself back in
brows mode, where I have to relocate the field and press enter to
continue.
6. When running iTunes in the background, WE will randomly say
something like "music tree view", and whatever I am doing will loos
focus. I believe this is an Apple issue, but I figured it couldn't
hurt to mention it again.
#4 is probably the most frustrating of these issues.
Have a merry christmas.
