What do you mean buy a good laptop solution? You can use any keyboard layout you like. If you are unhappy with the default gw micro layout you could of course make your own. What would you consider a good solution.

I wanted to endorse everything Eric mentioned, and add the lack of a good keyboard solution for laptops as another area where WE is falling behind JAWS. I am also having general stability issues with WE under Vista, and the feature called Intellisense (used by programmers mainly) isn't supported by WE. Still, Eric and I did convert for some reasons, and you did ask what they might be, so here are the things (the important things in my opinion, not every little thing), where WE stands out: * No copy protection!!! * Better tech support, including email and list support! * Alternative purchasing arrangements for those who don't have the money to purchase up front (my vague understanding is that this includes renting, and a payment purchase plan). As well as being cheaper. * Much better scripting, which in turn should lead to a list of better supported applications. * Keyboard layouts to ease the conversion of those who switch from other screen readers. Right now my guess is that WE bugs will be fixed; features where Eric or I see a lack will be addressed, but the things I see as problems for jaws aren't likely to be changed any time in the future.
