Ahhh. You make that sound so easy!

Yep sure is.

Is there any way of installing vista without sighted assistance.

Yep set up an unattended install.

Also, is it worth installing this OS as I've heard that it is going the
same way of the ME version released by Microsoft a few years ago, i.e. down
the toilet.

Well this is subjective of course. I personally love vista. Others hate
it. it is just user preference.

Vista is not going down the toilet etc. what happens with software and
software not just Microsoft software is that new versions come out and they
replace old versions. That is all that is happening here. the new windows
7 will replace vista at the end of this year or at the start of the next.

Is it best to wait for whatever is coming next, stay with XP, just install
Vista, or do a dual boot which gives the option of both vista and XP?

Once again this is subjective. I went to vista and won't look back others
will tell you to wait others will tell you to try a drool boot. Considering
the fact you asked me I would go for vista.
