Hi, I fully agree with this. I would like the ability to re-label controls. For example, Radio Button is too much to say. It would be nice if it says Radio. I also agree that you don't need the data repeated when checking/unchecking a checkbox.
The only screen reader I have seen that allows you to do all of this out of the box, is Hal. Hal, though not good in many areas, will let you relabel any control. For example, Hal says Edit Area. I don't like it, so I relabelled it Edit. I see no reason why WE couldn't allow you to relabel a control. You can reclass a control, so why not relabel it? You and I would differ on some items, but the underlying wish is a good one. One wonders, however, how much the program would have to bloat in order to give each of us enough customization to have said exactly and only what we as individuals feel is important. A change I would like (assuming it hasn't already been done and I missed it) is a hotkey to toggle the mouse follow cursor or focus option on and off. I think at present it requires a change in the mouse submenu and a hotkey for quickly shifting would be useful at times. Sometimes I want the mouse to come with me down a page and sometimes I want it to stay where I put it. It is amazing to me how often changes requested at one moment suddenly appear within one or two updates.
