Hi,

That's why I would have suggested access to you. I'll give you a
breakdown in costs.

My partner, bought me a nokia 82, for £300, they are cheaper than that
now, talks, for £150, access for £259 and the gps unit that I now have
for £45. now if you already have talks and a cellphone to run it on,
then all you need is to spend £259 for the programme and how ever much
you want to spend on a gps unit. So yes it's way way cheaper than the
alternatives out there. I completely agree withy you that the price for
a gps that would work for us is rather expensive and no I wouldn't
justify that cost. Oh before you wonder why I got an n82, it wasn't
because that's the only phone it worked with, it was because of keyboard
preference. It's nicely spaced out. The buttons.

There's the question of exactly when could a blind person make use of a
GPS application which runs on a laptop? I would use it while riding
around in a car; and so riding in taxis or buses might be a use, other
than that, you'd have to wear a backpack with the laptop (with an
earphone presumably), and you still have the problem of how to control
the program. Maybe voice recognition and a headset is the answer there,
but there are so many good GPS options that are small, it's hard to
think of a reason why this would be useful. The standalone gps units all
cost a fortune though. I already have a laptop
and I don't think 900 or 1200 dollars for a gps solution is really worth
it,
so just looking for some other options.
