Hi,
Can I get a hold of that article on office 2007. I have used 2003 and find
it difficult to get used to 2007. I agree entirely that the office system
will be geared to go that way in the future and I would like to give it a
good try before I go any further.
Kindest Regards, John

Hello
I wrote a tutorial for the American Printing House for the Blind entitled
Verbal View of Office 2007. It describes in detail the layout of the
Ribbon Bar, the Office Button menyu, and so on, and tells you about the
minor pitfalls with Ribbon Bar navigation. It is far easier to use (once
you adapt) than menus and toolbars. Get use to it, for mor and more
programs from Microsoft will employ that user interface - even the
venerable WordPad program.

I think it comes down more to the fact that most 2003 and older users got
used to, and comfortable with the menus and layout of that. So with
Office 2007 using the ribbon and having things in a different location,
they are not used to it and change is hard for most. I've also read from
people who have never used an older version of Office and started right
away with 2007, and they love it because of how "easy" the ribbon is.
This reminds me of when everyone was used to Windows 98 and then Windows
XP came into the picture, many were not willing to change from their
familiar environment.
Hope this helps.

I have the impression, from comments I've heard, that it's fine. But
everyone I know, sighted or blind, prefers to use office 2003 when/if
it's available. It seems MS just missed with the redesign of the user
interface for office 2007.

Hello. Once Office 2007 is installed, without any Office program
running, go to the Window-Eyes set file manager and arrow to the
Office 2007 sets. Choose install and they will properly load when you
run any of the Office applications.
Many thanks.
