Hello. In addition, we have a kb article on this, but I forget the
number at the moment.
Many thanks.

In XP, go to Control Panel, and look for something like Intel Graphics.
Hit enter, and go through the options until you see something like
"Enable quick keys". uncheck the box and make sure that you hit all the
OK's on the way out.

How does one go about doing that? <smile>
Thanks.

Hello Pat. All of the computers with an Intel video card do this.
When you press control-alt-arrow keys, they rotate your screen. You
will have to disable the intel graphic card hot keys from its
options. Once you do this, they will work to adjust the speech on the
fly.
Many thanks.

Hi Everyone,
I'm loving my Acer Aspire 1 Netbook, because the numpad is just like
this:
FN key: J, K, L.
FN Key: U, I, O.
FN Key: 7, 8, and 9.
Now, I haven't figured out where the numpad slash for the left click
of the Window-Eyes Mouse, and the right click keys would be.
This Blue Netbook has two back slashes. One is down by the left
shift key, and that is weird, because I often hit it, when reaching
for the left shift key. The other backslash key is up by the enter key.
I love the battery life.
There is one weird thing, that is happening, however with Window-Eyes.
I can not use the control-alt down arrow or control-alt left arrow,
and right arrows. It turns the screen upside down. lol.
However, FN key, and Up arrow does raise the volume, and FN key and
the down arrow lowers the volume.
Another strange thing that is happening, is when I open up Windows
Explorer, to copy things from a thumb drive to my hard drive, it
opens several windows of Explorer with my C. drive. That is very
weird. Then, I end up having to close up a bunch of windows. lol.
If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate knowing them. <smile>
Thanks.

1. fn-key together with the embedded number pad keys are disabled.
So pressing fn-key together with j k l u i o 7 8 9 does not give me
the number pad equivelements. This means that I cannot use the
default keyboard layout and the mouse movement hot keys. This means
I can't read the current line with control-number pad-5 because it
would use the embedded number pad.
2. Keys such as comma, period, and slash are too narrow which means
more typos for my fingers.
3. fn-key and control-key are switched around. On most laptops I've
used and gotten used to, the control key comes first. Then as you
ggo to the right, it goes fn-key, windows, alt, and space.
Other than those issues, it is a good machine. If you don't care
about using the number pad, or you are ok with switching keyboard
layouts, or you are ok with remapping hot keys to your likes, then
number 1 is a non-issue. If your fingers are shaped such that the
comma, period, and slash keys are not pressed wrongly quite a bit,
then number 2 is a non-issue. Lastly, there is a bios hack which
allows you to switch the fn-key and the control key so they are the
"right way". So that too can be a non-issue.
Hope this helps.

What are the other strikes?

fn-key-f3 will disable the mouse. However you will have to do
this each time you reboot. One of the many strikes I have against
this netbook *smile*.
