Oh. I thought they said that they were addressing it! Oh well! Hmm!

Subject: Re: Browse mode question

Hum Sandra, interesting question this one.

GW Micro's not addressing browse mode in the forthcoming 7.1 release, but
pretty sure they said that's slated for version 8.

Who knows what will happen by then? Interestingly System Access - as we now
know it as - has had scemeless browsing with no "browse mode" for ever.
Another company thought that would be a good idea - and to my knowledge Serotec
hasn't launched a a suit saying "we had the idea First!" Whether the unamed
company will try to propriatise the idea who knows, but in any case GW seems to
hint that browse mode as we know it might disappear.

Quite what can be fenced off in software design in patents has always been less
than obvious to me. Apple got nowhere with the "look and feel" of their OS
being "stolen" by Microsoft. I notice so far that Sony doesn't seem to be
suing the writers of Goldwave for pinching the JKL keystrokes for scrolling in
their audio editor.

let's hope no one can fence of the idea of not switching into and out of browse
mode.

It's my guess GW will stay silent on this one for some while yet.

Ray.

Greetings. Just wondering. It's my understanding that JAWS no longer has
their forms mode. Are we going to get lucky and get rid of Browse mode
completely? I wish we would! It would be nice to just type in an edit box
without having to turn the thing on or off. Also, when it is off, you miss
things on other lines if you're trying to fill out a form.
