I have been following this thred since it started. While I am sympathetic to those that have had WE instability issues, when many people talk about instability issues, many of them presuppose that every user of Window Eyes. While I'm not experiencing any instability issues with WE using windows xp sp3, I am not going to make the supposition that since I'm not having instability problems, nobody is having instability problems.

GWMicro is in a nowin situation. If they didn't release a new version of WE, they would be castigated for not releasing an update. On the other hand, there are those that make the claim that GWMicro should wait to release WE. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Josh N Rivera" <[email protected]>

Having only installed WE 7.1 a couple of days ago, I haven't put it
through all of it's paces yet. However, could it be that some stability
problems have appeared, that GWM put it out too soon? I mean, in all
previous versions, there have been at least two beta cycles, and I didn't
see a beta 2 offering of this version.

Hi,

I am experiencing some 7.1 stability problems and am wondering if
anyone
else is having the same.

Soon after installing the 7.1 update, all sorts of problems began.
In
Word and Edsharpfor example, WE would not read the next word when
control right arrow was pressed. Search boxes would not speak
either.
Fortunately this problem seems to have gone away with the turning
off of
all scripts. WE is now running with a minimum of scripts and all
seems
to be OK in that quarter.

However, a bug which is driving me nuts is when using
Thunderbird.
When only a few messages are displayed, pressing the up or down
arrow
keys to hear the first or last message header frequently causes WE
to
loose the plot. Upon pressing enter to open the message, WE will
read
the subject and say Thunderbird but nothing more. The text is on
the
screen because it can be read with mouse keys but is not spoken
automatically or with the arrow keys. While WE is in this state
many
areas do not speak correctly. e.g. New message editbox, list of
folders.

The fault appears to be triggered by pressing the arrow keys when
determining whether the message under the cursor is really the
first,
last or the only message in the list. Having the scripts on or off

makes no difference.

In WE 7.01, The pressing of the appropriate arrow key resulted in
silence when the extremities were reached. This was a slight
irritation
but nothing like the current problem.

Upon closing Thunderbird after the above problem has occurred, the
Desktop icons will not speak and WE needs to be unloaded and
re-loaded
before WE will function normally again. If an application other
than
Thunderbird is used, 7.1 seems to work as it should but more testing
is
required.

Anyone else experiencing this problem with 7.1 and Thunderbird under
WXPH?

  Using:
WXPH SP3, Triple Talk USB, also tried Dectalk for WE, Asrock
motherboard
VGA drivers uptodate, latest Thunderbird maxed.

Cheers
Neville.
