Well! As we can see from Kevin's comments, there is a lot of room
for opinion here. First of all, i have been a happy Dell owner since
1994. i have bought 4 desktop machines from them, as well as a
laptop and PDA, and have had virtually no trouble with any of
them. oh! I forgot, i have also used 2 dell desktop machines at
work. The only problem out of the box that i have had with them, was
a defective video card on my first machine, and it was not made by
dell, so that could have happened to anyone. Are they perfect, heck
no! but who is? my only problem with them was their off shore tech
support, and, because of a minor hearing loss, i have a hard time
understanding people who speak with accents, again, not their
fault. in general, i do think that extended service plans are a
money maker for the manufacturer, but a waste of money for the end
user. The exception to that rule is if it is a laptop. The 19 inch
monitor is overkill if you are blind, but it may have been part of a
package, and perhaps little was actually paid for it. And, quad core
chips are becoming almost commonplace these days. As I said before,
if it were me, and it were not an emergency, I would have waited a
few months until Windows 7 was being installed by the factory,
because sometimes upgrading can be a pain in the butt.

In my opinion you made several mistakes.
First, getting a Dell.
Second, getting conned into the extra warranty.
This is a cheap machine and will be disposable in two years or less
but you are paying for a four year warranty.
Integrated video and sound.
Not a good idea in my opinion, cheap video and sound cards are
available which will make your system more reliable and slightly faster.
Add them yourself if you like.
Only one hard drive?
And, paying for a quad core processor which adds next to nothing
over a core two duo except cost.
Also, why buy a monitor from Dell?
They are around cheap from buy.com etc.
