Hello:
You are correct in your interpretation. Window-Eyes needs to be installed on the server. You will need to fight with the IS people a little. There are two ways WE interacts with Citrix: One is where synthesized speech is sent over from the remote computer, and the other is where your local synthesizer takes remote signals and enunciates the speech. The latter is 1000 times better and faster. In fact, the former is useful, in my view, only in emergency situations. I access Word, Excel, and the other Office applications with no problem other than a little delay. Our IS department marveled at WE's responsiveness. They didn't expect it. It was substantially better and easier to manage than was JAWS. In fact, remote access was the principal reason I switched from JAWS to Window-Eyes.

Hello, I'm running WE 7.11 on an XP machine at work. For the most part, the software I use is located on my desktop or web-based, but our IT department is exploring putting one software package I use into the Citrix environment (to help our international users get a faster response rate). I read the WE manual section on Citrix and just want to confirm my interpretation of what I read. It sounds like, in order for me to use this software package in the Citrix environment, I must also have IT load a copy of WE 7.11 onto the Citrix server. Based on that fact that my local copy of WE did nothing when I tried Citrix today, I'm assuming my interpretation is correct. The good news is that I can still access the web-based version of the software and do not need to use Citrix, but I would like to know the answer to the above just in case I'm required to use Citrix in the future or find a benefit to doing so. I'm at a satellite office of a large corporation, and the thought of sending my Window Eyes install CD off into the corporate office makes my stomach clench a bit.
Thanks
