hi mike no problem. now lets get to your question. ok first thing is arrow around one last time to find the shortcut you want to add a hotkey to.
ok now that we found it press alt+enter to open the properties dialog box.
now press alt+k to move to the hot key field.
type the key you want to use. note that control alt is the default so you can just press the letter combo here. if you want to use some thing other then control alt combos like control shift you will have to inter it here. note control shift is probably not a good idea because the short cut hot key will always override anything else. so lets say you defined a short cut to control shift to. now you will no longer be able to read the window title using the window-eyes default layout.
ok now you have the key defined
---------------------------------------so now you can hit enter and you will be all done.

Subject: creating a hotkey

Hello fellow window-eyes users,
I have a quick question, that is, if people are still speaking to me. I have an icon for the Duxbury Braille Translator on my desktop, and I'd like to create a hotkey, preferably ctrl alt D, that I can use as a shortcut to run the program, without having to search through the menus and multiple icons on the desktop all the time: Not that that's a bad thing. I like using the menu structure, but sometimes, when I'm pressed for time, I like to use shortcuts for things. How would I do this. By the way, I'm having a much better day today. As far as I'm concerned, everything that happened yesterday, is in the past. I hope that we can berry the hatchit, and move on peacefully like we've always have been. and the next time I have a bad day, (and I'm sure I probably will), if I happen to post to the list on that day, I promise not to react in such a fierce mannor: especially on the list. Have a wonderful day everyone. Oh, and thanks in advance for your help.
Mike
