My experience with QuickBooks was with the 2002 version which I used to keep our companies books and do some payroll with. I have not tried any later versions. Having said that, I can say I was able to work with the register views, chart of accounts, and generate basic reports. I was also able to do some basic payroll although I eventually wound up farming that out to ADP. I was not able to use any of its invoicing features at all however. Using QuickBooks is a nightmare to put it bluntly but if you have to do it, it is somewhat useable given you really know how to use your screen reader and have a lot of patience. I can't tell you if later versions are better or worse however. Wish I had better news but that was my experience. I believe there is an online version of QB now that might be worth a try and perhaps more accessible.
QuickBooks is a beast and Intuit could care less about accessibility so writing scripts to cover everything QB can do is going to be a monumental task for whoever takes it on. --Regards, --Rick alfaro [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: Ray Campbell [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, May 04, 2010 3:04 PM To: [email protected] Subject: WE and Quickbooks Hello: I received a question about screen readers and QuickBooks accessibility. Does Window-Eyes work with QuickBooks? I am not sure if JAWS, System Access, Hal or NVDA work with it, I'm thinking they do not. If WE can work with QuickBooks, I'd beiinterested in people's experiences with it. I didn't see any scripts on Script Central for it.
