Good day Everyone

As part of our evergreen replacement process we send out a request for
volume discounts. This happens twice a year. Because of this I have had
the opportunity to use Window-Eyes on various Windows based platforms
from a variety of manufacturers.

In every case Window-Eyes has worked. Any problems I have encountered
along the way are related to hardware. The risk of a volume discount
process is that you never know if the company being awarded the contract
will be a tear one vendor like HP or a clone assembler which I would
categorize as tear three.

If we have had a bad batch of hard drives from companies like HP or
Dell, they have been very good about replacing them, even after the
warrantee period is up.

Now from some of the assemblers who do not get involved in a lot of
evaluating, testing, and researching when we notice a run of bad hard
driver, power supplies, video adaptors, etc. they have not been so quick
in getting the problem corrected even though the warranty requirements
are the same for all of our contracts. In many cases by the time we
notice problems, some of those tear three companies have gone out of
business. This could be because they belong to what I refer to as the
part of the month club.

When people ask me what type of PC to buy, I can honestly say that I
cannot give a definitive answer. What I do suggest is that they look and
touch the different models and decide what they find to be the most
comfortable. This is especially important when buying a laptop or
NetBook. Also to only go to sellers they can trust. Do they service what
they sell? If not do they have a strong partnership with a service
provider that delivers results on time? Are the systems name brands and
if not are the components name brand ones such as Seagate, Western
Digital, ATI, etc.? Does the power supply have enough to attach
everything you need? For instance with more and more USB devices, a 300
watt power supply might not be enough.

HTH.
