I can't speak for a Dell netbook but on all the notebooks I've owned
you can turn the touchpad off, or just disable taps as I do, from
it's own control panel usually found in the system tray.
My Asus netbook also has a button to disable the touchpad.

I have a Dell notebook, and with it, you can set the touchpad to
automatically disable itself if it detects another pointing device; luckily,
it appears windoweyes counts as another pointing device, so when WE is
running, the touchpad won't work with this setting enabled. hopefully
you'll be able to find it on your netbook.

Hi again GW staff and listers
I have bought a Dell Inspiron 1012 Intel Atom N450 10.1" Netbook 250GB HDD,
Bl and have it working apart from the switching off of the toughch pad.
Does anyone know how to disable the touch pad using the "FN" key or do I
have to go into the setup.
Yours Sincerely
Edmund Dunlop
