Hi,
Speaking of Deck-dtalk,
put Access32 window-Eyes on tone M and pitch 2 or 3.
Kit The Kid sounds like he's from the east coast.
Instead of saying," programs," it says "pwograms."
It's cute.

Subject: RE: Dec_Access32 support? NOT!
Hi:
Just a quick thought, if GW is using Windows 7 Professional, there is
virtual XP and I'm wondering if the software needed to generate those
codes would work under a virtual XP?

My contention is that, for those of us who don't have access to a floppy
drive, GW-Micro use to provide access to the software with a slash
regcode option provided with setup in installation, which, along with a
code they provide us, the ability to install the software. Aaron told me
yesterday that they no longer have the software which gives them access
to generating those codes. That is upsetting to me since I just had a
mother board change along with processor so my Dec_Access32, though
installed, would not work, which is the case with other software I had
including Sound Forge 9 and 10, both requiring that I re-register them,
including jfw 10 and 11 which I also have. I had no problem with any of
that, but Dec_access32 did not work, and when I called GW-Micro to
obtain a registration without a floppy drive, I was told that they no
longer support the software, that the software they use to use to
generate those codes doesn't work with Windows 7. So, I am abandoned
with regard to this CD and floppy disc supported software though the
software they use to generate the registration code, it seems to me, can
be made to work in Windows 7 in some kind of compatibility mode, or that
they would have a machine around with XP installed for those of us who
still might need a registration code.
Oh well, the issue isn't a floppy drive, the issue is that GW-Micro
decided to no longer support their own issued and paid for Dec_Access32,
though they joyfully provide Dec_Access32 directly in Window-Eyes, along
with Eloquence, so they must have some sort of license for it. It is
convoluted and unfortunate for me, particularly, so am frustrated
because I cannot benefit from software I enjoy, and have enjoyed a
DecTalk synthesizer as my primary since
1991 or so. Ok, it's older technology and all that, but the algorithms
are still the best since they've held up since the mid eighties when
they were initially developed, and it does not follow that in all
situations that newer, is always better. I am not clamoring for some
kind of just "good or bad" taste here or that my synthesizer is better
than your Eloquence etc. etc. etc. that is not my contention, mine is
that how difficult would it be for GW-Micro just to continue providing
support for generating registrations for those of us without a floppy
drive, if all it is is a software program which generates it. I contend
that probably most on this list are still using XP in some flavor or
another, and if the people still using XP have a mother board go and
need a replenished piece of software that was paid for, that GW-Micro
should be willing, with a phone call and proof that said person is a
bona fide registered owner of a license to use it, provide a code to use
to keep them going. How would you feel if something you've lived with
as your primary input from your computer, was no longer available. When
I upgrade to Windows 7, I then will be prepared to forego Dec_Access32,
for I believe it no longer is supported by GW-Micro with that OS, but I
am not ready to go through all the machinations of OS upgrading at this
time, other aspects of my computer life demand my time and abilities as
such, and, I find that Dec_Access32 demands less resources than
Eloquence or any of the "human" sounding synthesizers, and I am use to
it, as I said, since 1991 or so.
Oh well, this discussion goes no where, but thanks, nonetheless for
reading.
