but wouldn't it really be possible to add some basic placemarker functionality,
that could be used by beginners or as mentioned by children?
Just an additional marker, that only can exist once and is automatically
removed from the old position when the marker is set again?
This would allow children to just set the marker where they want without
editing or removing something.
Not as a replacement just as an additional marker?
Or isn't such a scenario possible?

Mike responded to this thread yesterday with the answer. Simple select an
existing placemarker from your list of placemarkers. Once you do that, the
information for that placemarker is available for editing, just like you were
creating a new one. This functionality has been in place since the inception of
placemarkers.

But that's just it. You don't take one marker out of a book and put a
new one in. You just move the marker you have already from where you picked
up, to where you left off.
The same should be true of window-eyes place markers. My client is 8.
She's not really interested in the mechanics of place marking. I can teach her
what the various options do, but she isn't going to fool around with a two step
process of emersion into a dialog box just to mark her place in a book.
There has to be a better way.

I have one.
One of my clients is an 8 year old girl. I've just started teaching
her to read books on her braille display. She got a book from the cnib library
website, and off we went.
When it came time to stop reading I set her up a place marker. when
we went back later to read from where we left off, it went fine.
I had a problem though because when I tried to update the place
marker for the new position in the book I couldn't figure it out. So, any
ideas about convenient ways to update place markers?
