Can someone please remind me how to create a batch file? It's been years!
Thanks,
Johnny

I get the batch file that's no problem, I just don't remember how to assign
a hotkey to the batch file.

I also use a batch file. Not everyone is savvy enough to write a batch
file so a ready made solution is required. Many also are not savvy enough
to know what and where their data is kept on the hard drive.

I'm afraid I don't really understand why people seem to want to pay
money for a back-up solution, especially when they are going to back
their data up to an external hard drive of some sort.
I simply use a batch file, with a hot key associated with it, with a
series of Copy statements.
These will take data from my PC and back them up to the external drive.
You can use the /s option to include all sub-directories and the good
one is /m which takes all those files waiting for archive, copies them
to the external hd and them unsets the archive attribute. They will not
be picked up again until they are changed again. On my batch file I end
it with the "shutdown" command; I hit the hot key combo and leave the PC
to its own devices to shut itself off.
From a dos box use copy /? To see all of the possible options.
Using this method the directory structure and files are all the same on
your HD as on your PC, making recovery very simple.
Regards, John.

Don, do I get an Autobot or a Decepticon with the purchase? Also, do I
get to pick what vehicle it resembles? I want to make sure my $40 is
well spent. *smile*.

This is off topic, but, form many blind users, backup systems are time
consuming, and other problems. Here is a web page that will give you
info on a very low cost way to do your backups.
It is called clickfree.com.
As low as about $40.00, you can purchase a transformer and use your
own
external hard drive or purchase a hard drive with all the software
installed.
