not so.
w e will stay where you stop and wait until you press the read to
end, control shift r or else useing the arrow keys to read one line at a
time.
i use the shift key because this will not add letters to a document like it
would if you pressed a letter key.

I think you and Gil are both talking of the interrupt feature.

that is, pressing a key will cause WE to interrupt speech and silence it,
and it will discard or not speak the remainder of the text it would have
spoken; and it will continue to discard the text for a short time period,
before it resumes speaking.

I think the original question however, was for a pause capability, just
like
pausing the playback of a book or a sound file. that is, pressing a key
won't discard all the unspoken text as it currently does, and it won't
automatically continue in a second, but it will silence speech, and
actually
keep all the unspoken text, so when you press some other key again, it
will
resume right where it left off.

I don't think WE can do this.

w e already does this.
if useing factory defaults it is set to stop where you are by pressing any
key on your keyboard.
i use the shift, or control keys most of the time because few programs
will
be efected when you press these keys.

Hi all,

Is there a way to pause window eyes, then hit the hotkey again to have it
continue from where it left off?

I've experienced this with a different screen reader, and it is quite
handy.

Lol, sometimes I think sighted people forget that everything we do on the
computer, requires us to listen. So when they interupt us, it is so nice
to
quickly pause speech, then just as quickly, pick up where I left off.

If this is not possible with we, it is a great feature request! *smile*
