What happened is that my brother-in-law, when the CD was in, selected the install now option and it made a partition and made a folder called Windows.old and then installed Windows 7.

When Microsoft helped us reinstall it, they had us go to the custom install and select erase partition 1 and then it installed Windows 7 supposedly fresh.
That procedure was done by a Microsoft tech.

The best way is to do a completely clean install in custom install like you said. I think that's what ended up happening.

Hi,
You will need to completely uninstall windows 7 and reformat the hard
drive so you will have a clean install.
If you just upgraded from xp to windows 7 with out a clean install,
but just installed windows 7 over the top of xp, that could be the
reason for a lot of problems.
If you have only had windows 7 for a couple of weeks, give yourself a
little time. I would get the talking book Windows 7 For Seniors And
Dummies.
It really gives you the ins and outs of windows 7, including key strokes.

I am sorry you are having problems, and I sure hope you get them solved.
