Indeed. No matter which security you go with, one good one is far better
than two outstanding ones. Myself, I prefer Eset's Nod32.

once the Gateway, upgraded from XP to 7 was finally back in service, , I
was disappointed with the somewhat sluggish performance when one of those W7
Action Center notices pointed out that I was running both Windows Defender
and Eset 4. the folly of two such programs and recommended turning one of
them off. I decided to turn off Windows Defender and have observed marked
improvement in performance.

Running WE7.2, W7-32 Home Premium and Office 2003 on a new Western Digital
1.5 and Seagate 1.0 TB Hd, 4GB VDR2 RAM, Intel Dual core 3.0 on a new main
board. So far? Very impressive. I never thought, well, yes, I knew, I'd
come around to W7. I'd go to Office 10 but I hear MS Office Document
Imaging and MS Office Document Scan have come up missing from the Suite...
Warning! Warning! Danger Will Robinson! Too far off topic!

Actually if I recall the person who experienced the slowdown was using
at the time both Windows Defender and Avast. In the documentation for
Vipre it says to disable the active protection. That makes since
because both Vipre and avast use system resources and there are just so
many to go around no matter how much ram you have.

I find Vipre premium easy to use and works well on my system.
